What's your background?

I live in Seoul, Korea, and majored in architecture at university. But I've always been interested in painting. So I joined a game company as a designer. I came across Sktchy app by chance. Since then I have become interested in drawing portraits.

What's your medium of choice when you're creating art?

I used to work primarily with Photoshop but recently it has become so fun to draw with a pen on paper. I will take on the challenge of watercolors and oil paintings in the future.

How did you build your creative habit?

I am a very lazy person. But on the other hand, I am greedy too. So I want to express many things by drawing. When I can afford it, I look at the pictures of other people on the Internet or in the exhibition hall and draw them in my head. Of course, if I have paper and a pen, I also draw on paper.

When you find yourself in a creative rut, how do you get out of it?

I do not do anything. Just relax while listening to music or surfing the web. Because I think that if I practice too long, I am getting more and more skills, but I think I have a lot of unnecessary habits and thoughts. After a long break, unnecessary habits and thoughts disappear. I can work again in a clear condition.

Which of your recent Sktchy artworks most expresses who you are now as an artist?

The model that inspired me is really beautiful and expressive. As soon as I saw the picture that inspired this portrait, I remembered this situation in my mind. I actually like works that can give a smile but something dark. When I meet an inspiration that is right for my taste, I will devote myself to work for a few hours without thinking. And I'm curious to see how people will react to this picture. People's reactions are also a great motivator for the creator.
